2006 Fall Train Show
The 2006 Fall Train Show was moved from the
Bessemer Civic Center to The McWane Science Center in Downtown
Birmingham. The Show was held on October 21 & 22 and we had a much
larger attendance than last year in Bessemer. We had 15 vendors and 4
model railroads on display, so hopefully the attendance success will
attract more vendors and models for next year. Also the Train Show was
free with paid admission to McWane, so the visitors were able to see all
of the attractions at McWane as well as the Train Show. As in years past, the Train Show was produced by The Wrecking Crew and The Steel City Division of the NMRA. Both groups provided ample manpower and the show ran very smoothly. One thing we added this year was a model railroad that was raffled off at the show. The model was built by the Steel City Division as a fund raiser. It was an N-Scale layout 7' x 3' with folding legs for easy moving. Raffle tickets sold for $5 each and Marty Rosen from Longboat Key, FL won the layout. We also gave away hourly door prizes and gave several model railroad clinics. Our big door prize was a complete HO-Scale railroad donated by Oak Mountain Hobbies of Pelham, AL. All in all it was a good show for our first year at McWane. We have plenty of space there, so hopefully the show will grow in the coming years. |
